Journal Six-Britt

Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was the first women to be elected head of state of an African country. She was on of three running for the Nobel Prize to further women’s rights and she won. Ellen went through 3 different colleges to get to her bachelors degree college of west Africa, Madison business college, and an economics institute in Boulder, Colorado. While running for vice president she was put on house arrest then sentenced ten years to prison for sedition.

    I think its really cool that she was the first women to be elected to head of state in an African country

    Did she actually have to serve all 10 years? Id find it strange and ironic if she had to serve 10 years in prison only to be given an award for it when she gets out
