| An NBA Ref making a call |
Out of all the profiles so far I have enjoyed Marat Kogut's the most. Marat came to the USA from Keiv, The capital of the Ukraine,I this profile a lot because the job of being an NBA ref or a referee in any sport is such a thankless and difficult job that I could never imagine wanting to do it, but he grew up with such conviction that it was what he wanted to do. The difficulty of becoming an NBA ref is also astonishing. Marat had said " 115 people took the test. 13 passed, and I was one of them" I was amazed that the turnover for this was less than 10%. I was curious about how referees had to be trained and found that a large part of what they do is find "open angles" or spots where they have good lines of sight on contact between players.
The most important thing for my future career is that I need to be able to have fun and enjoy myself. There's no point in putting so much work and time into something if you're going to dread it and its not worth getting there if you are going to hate it. An ideal job must simply provide an environment that allows me to work, enjoy talking to my coworkers and have a certain amount of freedom to have fun.
This profile really opened up my eyes to realize we all need to strive to do what we love to do in life. We only get one chance and if you want to do something, don't let anyone tell you cant do it or your not allowed. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it and he sure did.
