The profile that stood out to me the most so far was Dr. Dorothy's. Dr. Dorothy didn't only prove gender roles wrong but she escaped the label that was placed on her. She beat the odds and followed her dreams even if they weren't accepted by the most of her family and peers. I think my favorite line in this profile is "I think it has perhaps left me with a little more understanding of other people who've had these kind of tragedies in their life. I know what not to say and what to do to be helpful." She did not let this major tragedy in her define her or stop her work but she used it to fuel her passion. She doesn't allow the troubles of the world to hold her back. My vocabulary word was " obstetricians" the definition is a physician or surgeon qualified to practice in obstetrics. My research question was if she is still researching today and sadly I found out that she passed away at age 80 on April 26,2016.I hope to make a positive impact in the lives of children and help them pursue their dreams.
