Snapshot Four - Ka Phung

When I was a kid I traveled to California. This trip affected me in a big way because California has a very large Chinese population meaning it was the closest thing I could get to an authentic Chinese experience other than actually traveling to China. When I was there I had the chance to eat authentic Chinese food.When I was there I had the chance of going to Disney Land although I wasn't a fan of Disney I still enjoyed my time there. I also had the chance of meeting the governor of California at the time Arnold Schwarzenegger. This impacted me because this was the first time I've ever met someone that was an important figure, both culturally and politically. When I met him I had the chance to shake his hand and say "Nice to meet you." he had the grip of a bear, it felt like my hand was being compressed and was as tall as the skyscrapers in New York. I was very nervous at the time and coulden't think of anything else to say to him.
       One place I really want to travel to is Hong Kong which is where my mom was born and raised before coming to America. The main reason I want to go there is to see the environment my mom grew up in and experience all of her childhood favorites. My main takeaway form going there is to see how growing up in another country is like and to see how culturally different they are from Americans.
