A red snapper
I remember when I was around 10 or 11 years old my family went to key went down in Florida. It was around may so the weather was relatively hot and humid most of the time. Out of the entire trip I don't remember too much but I do remember our deep sea fishing trip we did rather well. We all had to wake up very early around 4:30-5 to meet the guy that was going to take us out on his boat. As a result we were all pretty groggy and slowly asides from my dad who was used to being up extremely early. You can probably imagine that being incredibly tired and being on a  boat don't go to well. Its like being tired but also the ground isn't to sure where it wants to be.When we got to the boat and out on to deeper waters I remember the surface of the water being extremely clear, blue and almost shining. There were some dull moments, but the smell and feel of the salt water was unique and refreshing. I was the first to reel something in. I had gone pond fishing before. This was not pond fishing. The rods were very reinforced and the fish were 10 times bigger. I recall pushing the rod closer towards me only to have the fish pull back harder. when I finally pulled the fish into the boat it was a 20 pound shiny white fish. The name escapes me now but the way this fish shined was amazing. Its one thing to see a picture of these fish but  when you catch one and are holding it. Its entirely different. There's no good way to hold a fish, especially a living one, while I was holding it for my mom to take a picture the fish, who had barbs on below his face, wriggled in such a way to cut my finger with them. It was as if he was still struggling to survive. We later cooked the fish we caught. my mom had caught a red snapper that I remember having a smell that could only be called "fishy". It was a lovely experience with my family overall even though I don't particularly enjoy fishing. That's my philosophy with travel in the first place. I don't really care where I am as long as I'm with people I love and care about.
