English 1109.01 Essay Three prompt: Revising a Snapshot

A Narrative Essay That Uses Life Experience To Prove A Point

Goal: In this essay, we will continue to revise one Snapshot to turn it into a short essay. To do this, we will continue to revise and polish what we have started, but our goal will be to have a clear Introduction, Body (containing the evidence/story), and Conclusion.

In the Introduction, we want to make the reader aware of what we will write about and give them background information on things like you, your subject, or the places and themes involved in the essay. You may want to introduce a main character or set the mood for a theme or idea that will be in the essay. You may want to end with a thesis where you make a claim about the overall purpose of the essay.

In the Body of this essay, we want to develop fully the story and themes we are creating. That means we try to use as many conventions as we can: scene, characterization, dialogue, metaphors, exposition, flashback, sense details, characterizations, etc. Revise for excellent use of conventions and development, in other words.

In the Conclusion of the essay, we want to reflect upon the most important themes in the essay, or leave the reader with a strong closing thought, memory, connection to culture, or reflection on our subject.

Requirements: 2.5 to 4 pages in length, typed, double-spaced, and using our Format
Guide.

1st draft is due on Monday, Dec. 3. Have three copies of your rough draft ready
after Lab so we can do peer response on this day.

Final draft will be due on Wednesday, Dec. 5. We will turn our hard copy in for the last regular class (at the end of Lab) and then take our Final Exam to finish our coursework.
