Groundbreakers - Brooke

The groundbreakers profile that stuck out to me was that of Dorothy Clinton, a Ford assembly plant supervisor. She had a child to support so she made sacrifices to try to better their lives. That is an admirable quality. She got a nice paying job with Ford, however her male co-workers felt that women were taking men’s jobs so they did not treat her the best. Instead of reacting negatively, she stayed proactive and focused on what actually matters. She did not pay much attention to what the men were doing or saying about her, she carried on with her job to support her child. Later down the line, she wanted things to change in that work environment, she joined a group of people that sued the company. She goes on to say, “Ford was a good company, but I felt like if I just stood there and did not try to make things better when I saw other people having the same problems I was having, everything would be in vain,” (Isay 250). She didn’t want people to have the same experience. She wants them to have a healthy and welcoming environment in the workplace, which is important for any company, big or small.
